Feast of the Redeemer
Feast of the Redeemer
An event held in Venice the third Sunday of July where the fireworks play an important part.
Preparations begin for Venetians: early in the morning the preparation and decoration of their boats which will become the viewing platform from where they can admire the fireworks (from 23:30 until midnight) while dining with family.
It commemorates the end of a fatal epidemic disease in the 16th century which decimated the population of Venice. In this celebration, a floating walkway is set up between Venice and the island of Giudecca so that people can visit the splendid basilica (Redeemer church) in the island.
We suggest to dinner on a magnificent sailing boat and enjoy the fireworks in all its glory.
